Congrats to Schuylkill Elementary
Let's get a "woo-hoo" for Schuylkill Elementary who is shooting for 100% participation goal for lemons at Schuylkill Elementary! In honor of Alex's leadership and as part of their Alex's Lemonade project, we are creating lemon, leadership posters for each homeroom. Each student has to earn a lemon by doing an act of leadership. On May 18, Schuylkill is having an Alex's Lemonade Day. Students must donate $1 to wear a crazy hat or crazy hair. Our home and school association donated the lemonade for the day so we will all share some lemonade "extra sweet and icy cold" in honor of Alex. Congrats to Schuylkill Elementary for their outstanding work so far!

Just Getting Started with Lemonade Stand
Tuesday, May 08, 2012
Schools from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Alabama, Montana, New Jersey and even as far as Taiwan showed off their lemon spirit. Our VJs from Mrs. Quartullo's 2nd grade class at Crooked Billet Elementary did an AMAZING job VJ'ing our 2012 kick off event! We got to meet Liz Scott, Alex's mom, from Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation who told us about her daughter Alex and read from Alex and The Amazing Lemonade Stand. We also got to hear a special message from Lily Adkins, and amazing local ALSF Hero - - and one of ours too! And OF COURSE we got to see everyone's excitement and enthusiasm for raising money to fund pediatric cancer research and end childhood cancers worldwide!
In our spirit rally ALL schools had a chance to show us just how excited they were about the project. There were skits, songs, poems, dances, cheers, and lemons galore. All the schools were amazing but Liz Scott and the MAGPI judges have decided the following schools ultimately are our 2012 Spirit Award winners!
Moreland Hills Elementary School
National Dali High School
Montana School for the Deaf

Announcing Alex's Virtual Lemonade Stand 2012 - Registration Closes April 13th
When life gives you lemons... make lemonade! Inspired by the journey of Philadelphia-area hero Alex Scott, the Alex's Virtual Lemonade Stand Project celebrates the idea that just one kid can make a difference. Join schools from around the world to raise awareness and money for pediatric cancer research, all while participating in standards-based projects that make the process both inspiring and fun. It's all about kids helping kids - - and we want you to get involved!
As part of this two week program, each participating school will hold their own lemonade stands to help raise funds for pediatric cancer. Schools can hold one big lemonade stand day or a series of lemonade stand events throughout the two weeks. They will be able to communicate and interact with one another through a project blog, student-created videos, poster contest and special videoconference events!
Alex's Lemonade Stand is a national organization with Greater Philadelphia roots. The organization grew out of the front yard lemonade stand started by Alexandra “Alex” Scott, a pediatric cancer patient. In 2000, at the age of four, Alex opened her first annual lemonade stand with high hopes of raising money for pediatric cancer causes. Every year thereafter, Alex held an annual lemonade stand in her Pennsylvania front yard and inspired others to donate money to her cause.
